Get Involved

OMDDMS® is developed with the people and organisations that apply it. Certified Practitioners, candidates, organisations applying the Standard, and training organisations each have a defined way to take part in how the Standard develops.

Proposals

What a proposal should include

Proposals are assessed for evidence, scope and impact on existing conformance. A proposal that covers these four points can be assessed at the first annual review after it is received.

The problem

What the Standard does not do, or does not do well enough, in practice.

The evidence

Where the problem has been seen in operating model design or delivery, and what it caused.

The section affected

The phase, Content Model element, Maturity Level or Conformance Criterion the change applies to.

The impact

What the change would mean for organisations and programmes already working to the current version.

Process

What happens to a proposal

Every proposal follows the same route. The full cycle is set out on How OMDDMS® is Developed and Maintained.

  1. Received

The proposal is logged for the next annual review.

  2. Assessed

OMDDMS Ltd accepts it for drafting, defers it or declines it, and records the reason.

  3. Reviewed

Accepted changes are drafted and reviewed by the Steering Group and the Accredited Training Organisations.

  4. Approved and published

OMDDMS Ltd approves the change, assigns a version number and publishes it with a summary of what changed and why.

The Standard changes when there is evidence it should

OMDDMS® does not change on preference or trend. Proposals, course feedback and evidence of use from the people applying the Standard are what the annual review assesses. Without them, the review has nothing to test.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about getting involved

Questions about proposals, course feedback, the Steering Group and registering your organisation's use.

01Who can propose a change to OMDDMS®?

Certified Practitioners, organisations applying the Standard, and Accredited Training Organisations can submit a proposal through the proposal form.

02What should a proposal include?

Four things:

  • the problem
  • the evidence
  • the section of the Standard affected
  • the impact on organisations and programmes already working to the current version

A proposal that covers all four can be assessed at the first annual review after it is received.

03When will I hear about my proposal?

Proposals are assessed at the annual review. Each is accepted for drafting, deferred or declined, with the reason recorded, and proposers are told the outcome after the review.

04How do I give feedback on an OMDDMS® course?

Give feedback through the Accredited Training Organisation that delivered your course. Feedback is collected from every course and considered at the annual review.

05How do I join the OMDDMS® Steering Group?

Certified Practitioners and representatives of organisations applying the Standard can express interest. Members are appointed by OMDDMS Ltd, on application, for a term of three years, serve in a personal capacity, and declare their interests before each review. See the Steering Group.

06Why should my organisation register its use of OMDDMS®?

Evidence of how the Standard performs in use is one of the inputs to the annual review. Registering your organisation's use adds that evidence to the record.
