Frequently Asked Questions

OMDDMS® provides a comprehensive 7-phase method (OMDDM) with clear steps, governance, and certification through accredited training organisations to answer "What do we do on Monday?" in operating model transformation.
OMDDMS® is the Operating Model Design Delivery and Management Standard

OMDDMS® is the emerging standard for operating model transformation.

It was created so individuals and organisations can confidently modify operations for greater efficiency, profitability, and success.

By providing a repeatable, scalable method, guidelines, best practices, principles and structures, organisations can respond and change confidently, drive innovation, manage risk, and operate more efficiently and sustainably.

OMDDMS® training is only delivered through approved training providers.
OMDDMS is the accrediting and governing body in respect of the OMDDMS standard, related courses and exams, organisations (who wish to become Accredited Training Organisations) and also for those individuals who are OMDDMS certified and want to become trainers (ATIs - Accredited Training Instructors)

ATOs: Accredited Training Organisations
  • ATOs are accredited by OMDDMS to deliver courses that prepare individuals for assessments or examinations that lead to OMDDMS® certification
  • ATO accreditation requires a review of the organisation's curriculum, teaching methods, candidate support, and instructor qualifications to ensure that they meet or exceed defined quality benchmarks
  • ATO Benefits
    • Being accredited adds a level of trust and legitimacy to the training programs offered, making it easier for prospective students to choose an institution for their educational needs
    • Some employers may prefer or require that employees obtain certifications through ATOs
    • ATOs have the freedom to set up their own course schedules
    • ATOs can use resellers to sell seats on their course schedule

ATIs: Accredited Training Instructors
  • Trainer accreditation is awarded by OMDDMS
  • The process to become an accredited trainer involves meeting certain educational and experience requirements, and completing a training program
  • Being an accredited trainer signifies that the individual has the expertise and competencies required to deliver OMDDMS® training, providing credibility and assurance, both for the trainer and for the candidates
  • Accredited trainers impart knowledge and prepare students for assessments, examinations, or practical applications that may be part of later OMDDMS® certification
  • ATI Benefits
    • Only accredited trainers can deliver OMDDMS® courses
    • Accredited trainers can deliver courses for any ATO
    • Using an accredited trainer provides greater confidence in the quality and relevance of the instruction provided
Yes, it includes a comprehensive method with defined steps, inputs and outputs. This is the Operating Model Design and Delivery Method (OMDDM) and it supports operating model transition using a consistent, efficient, and practical approach that minimises risks, enhances collaboration, and drives the achievement of sustainable objectives and goals.

Consisting of seven phases (1 - 6) underpinned by continuous governance (7), the OMDDM ensures that the operating model is designed to support the organisation's strategic goals and objectives. Each phase of the OMDDM has an objective, outcome, inputs, steps, and outputs.

This method also helps measure performance, scalability, and adaptability, contributing to the organisation's success.

With OMDDMS® and the OMDDM, the answer to 'What do we do on Monday?' is clear.
The current version of OMDDMS® is Version 4.
Yes, the OMDDMS® Applied Operating Model: Design and Delivery course (AOM:DD) has recently been released.

The AOM:DD course is a 4-day course that helps candidates understand the OMDDMS concepts and techniques that can be used to transform the organisation through operating model change. It is designed for specialists and non-specialists alike; it combines the theoretical and the practical aspects of operating model transformation.

The course includes an introduction to operating models, a design and development method, supporting framework, operating model practice organisational structures and how to set them up, case study exercises, and a series of production-ready artefacts with examples. The AOM:DD course is particularly useful for 3 important groups involved in operating model transformation:
  • those who direct
  • those who manage, and
  • those who deliver

You can book a place on an AOM:DD course through an approved ATO (Approved Training Provider) - see 'Find a training provider'
To become certified, you must take the course and pass the exam.

Exam vouchers will be made available via your training provider during your course or shortly after your course.
Soon, by searching on the OMDDMS® Certification Register, and soon, through Acclaim.

When you take an approved course you will be asked whether you'd like your name to appear on the Certification Register to show attendance and certification status with a badge.
Certification is provided for the version of the exam you take without any time limitation.

When either (a) new versions of the OMDDMS® AOM:DD course, or (b) additional (elective) modules or material are made available, you can choose to certify for each.
